Cerate Blog in 10 minutes

13 January, 2009

Crate blog is very easy. Yes it’s true. Now I’m going to show the steps how to create your own blog.

Step 1:
Go to Blogger ( http://www.blogger.com ) and click on the ‘Create your blog now' button on the right in the middle of the page.

Step 2:
Sign-up
This includes standard sign up information such as entering a username, password and your email address. It also includes your ‘signature name' – for example if you entered "Hiral Vyas", at the end of each post there would  be line saying ‘posted by Hiral Vyas' or something similar. So enter a name you want to use on your blog (of course, it can be a nickname or an alias instead of your actual name).

Tick the checkbox title ‘Terms and Conditions' and click on ‘Continue' to proceed.

Step 3:
Enter blog information
Enter your blog title. For example, if you were creating a blog that would be a guide to SEO, you could use a title such as Search Engine Optimization, or SEO Tips.

Enter your blog URL. This will form your blog address that you and your visitors will use to visit your blog. Continuing with the previous example, you could enter ‘SEO-live' or something similar. This will make your blog address: http://SEO-live.blogspot.com.
Continue.

Step 4:
Select a template
There are more then 20 templates that Blogger provides for free. In addition, you can customize them to your heart's content, or enter your template. For now, select a template (you can preview a template as well) by clicking on the template image and selecting ‘Continue'.

Step 5:
Make your first post.
From here, you are directed to the Blogger ‘Dashboard', an intuitive control panel for your Blogger account (you have one blog now, but you can add any number of blogs to the same account). Use this to create your first post, maybe something as simple as a welcome message or even your first article. And then, publish the post and congratulations! Not only have you created your own blog, but you've also got it started with a brand new article in less than 10 minutes.

And that's it. It is this simple to start your own blog. The important thing is to take action and get started. Whether you are providing a service or selling products, you will invariably be targeting a select niche market. Use your blog as a mouth piece to talk directly to your potential customers, and as you keep adding posts and building links, you will soon be able to dominate your niche by a free resource that takes almost no time for you to maintain.

7 simple ways to drive traffic to your site

06 January, 2009

1. Get Some Quick Links From Trusted Directories
Link building is a long-term process with long-term goals, but for brand new sites with no history you've got to start somewhere. There are a number of directories out there that provide free and paid listings. Here are the ones I recommend:
  •    Yahoo!
  •    Business.com
  •    JoeAnt.com
  •    DMOZ.org
  •    BOTW.org

2. Start Blogging
blogging is a great way to build relevant content at your site on a consistent basis. It also gives your visitors/ customers a way to engage with you. But please don't make the mistake of being too "corporate" on your blog - do yourself a favor and check your Public Relations cap at the door.

3. Consider Paid Search
For new websites, the day when you receive all the traffic you need for free from search engines and other referrals is a long way off - if not just a pipe dream altogether. Often times paid search campaigns are a great way to get your site in front of your target market today. Be sure to keep your budget modest, though, until you're confident in your ROI. Be sure to do your keyword research to find lower-cost keywords - going after the big traffic keywords might be tempting, but it gets expensive and the ROI is often not the best.

4. Use Article Marketing To Build Links
As with any tactic, I'd recommend using this one in moderation. Article marketing is, essentially, trading words for links. It can help with link building, but the quality of the links it garners is usually less than stellar.

Here's how it works:
  • Write an informative article on your site topic (or something related)
  • Include an "about the author" section as well as links in the article that point to your pages using relevant anchor text
  • Submit the article through one of the many article syndication services
  • The deal is, anybody can come along and publish your article on their website - provided they use the article in its original format including the "about the author" section. So when the article is published, any links you include back to your site are published as well.
5. Guest Post At Relevant Blogs
This certainly requires some up-front investment, mainly in terms of building relationships with bloggers in your topic but it can help get the flywheel turning for your site like nothing else can. Take the time to make your guest post remarkable and smart - your host blogger will appreciate it, and it'll improve the likelihood of attention coming back to your site. Links from blogs are some of the most powerful editorial links you can get - don't underestimate them for a second.

6. Submit Your Site to Design Galleries
Is your website breathtaking to behold, beautiful enough to make angels weep? Yeah, sure it is. But seriously, if it looks pretty sharp there are plenty of web design galleries that accept submissions for new sites and link to the sites they feature. Particularly for CSS-driven design there are a number of galleries that will consider your site for listing – including CSSElite.com, CSSHeaven.com, CSSBeauty.com and many others.

7. Sponsor a Local Event or Charity
OK, I admit this is kind of a tired tip - but it works especially for local small businesses!!! Is there a local event coming up in your community? A local charity that has a website! Not only will sponsoring such an event give you all of the normal PR benefits that are the byproducts of charity, but any web announcement for the event will potentially include a mention of your website as well as a link to it. And you can feel good about yourself for a change.

The Domain Age Factor in Links

Age of domain affect the search searching that thing is known by us. So to get benefit thru the aging many websites have bought the old domain names. If the domain bought is relevant to the site’s theme then buying old domain name is not bad thing at especially when the new site has quality content. However spammers are always there to exploit every loophole they could find thus using even this technique and then use the old domain for nothing more than a link farm.  To getting higher ranking, old domain carries more weightage. Obviously search engines extreme dislike this method and have been trying to find ways to combat these link farms both “old” and new.

Microsoft has been trying to fight this problem by looking not only at the age of the domain and the number of sites linking to it but also the age of the domain of those sites. This means although link produces may get lots of inbound links those links wouldn’t hold as much weight as links from older and more reputable sites since most of the sites that join link farms are new ones.

On the other hand, what this means for ordinary sites is that it will make it a bit harder to do link building since we need to get more links from older sites. Add to the that the relevance of the site and all those factors what it simply means is that natural link building is making more and more sense since search engines are finding better ways to determine which sites are really offering something of deserving and not.
